In addition to the $200,000 cash prize, Trickett also earned his title of champion for the Party Poker World Open VI. He did so by winning out against the likes of Dale Hoy, Juha Helppi, Toby Lewis, Andrew Robl, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and John Duthie. The table dwindled by elimination, until only Trickett and Timoshenko remained, each determined to come out on top at the Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair, London. The win has impressed a number of names in the community as well, with at least one going on record with the following warning to other players: “He’s one helluva player, and you’ll be hearing a lot more of Sam Trickett, I can promise you that,” said the veteran player and commentator Mike Sexton, impressed at the demonstration of skill in the younger player. Timoshenko was awarded $110,000 for his efforts.
