Despite the continued existence of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, it seems that online gambling continues to grow in the US, with more companies making use of the loopholes built into the system. The latest news comes from the US horse racing company Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, which announced their new launch this week of an online gambling option, setting up the website SaratogaBets.com to bring in additional business.

Though for the most part, online gambling is illegal in the United States, with laws in place that prohibit the processing of internet casino transactions by financials, the new offering of Saratoga Bets takes advantage of carve outs in the existing law structure that allow online options to land-based companies. The harness racing group is just the latest company to branch out into the internet gambling world in such a way, with plenty more on the way.

Based out of upstate New York, Saratoga Bets will allow existing account holders to place their bets over the web on pari-mutual racing. The programming behind the site has been designed with their clientele in mind, built specifically to complement their 1,700 machines that allow video gaming on site, launched six years ago in 2004.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this convenient option to our guests,” said John Matarazzo, racing operations director for Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. “They can now enjoy the flexibility of wagering on tracks across the country from here on-property, right in their own home or remotely from wherever they might be.”
