Some more information has become available in relation to the player collusion case developing at online gambling website Poker Stars. The players, all originating from China, were working together to manipulate the poker tables to their advantage, reported the British Broadcasting Corporation. After the scam was broken, more than 25,000 Poker Stars members and players were reimbursed for having been taken advantage of, costing the internet casino more than £1.63 million.

It hasn’t even been the first very expensive scam to have hit Poker Stars this year; while the Chinese collusion unfolded in July, prior to that an additional £52,000 had to be paid out to victims of a bot scam. According to online gambling experts, the boom of the industry over IM technology and cell phone mobile gaming apps for casinos make it even more difficult for operators to flag and track suspicious activity that could be collusion efforts.

Despite the risk of collusion, the same experts estimate that up to 95 percent of the action is safe and untainted by scams. The issues this year have also resulted in an increase in security at Poker Stars. Previously, one ex-employee said that some staff members have even been known to shut off the alarming systems under pressure, for short periods of time, something that is no longer being permitted. There are constant accusations of collusions, though most are completely unfounded and are simply sore losers looking to complain.

Despite the origination with this latest case coming out of China, the matter was being taken care of entirely in house, in cooperation only with the Isle of Man authorities. If approached by the Chinese police, Poker Stars has said that they would work with them. For now, Poker Stars online casino is in charge, and have plenty of firepower behind them, having made more than £911.6 million in annual revenues last year.
