With the recent meldings of social networking with more traditional online casino games, its understandable why such a move would be noted by the internet gambling community. The most recent purchase to be taken under Google’s wing was that of Social Deck. According to a report by Sci Tech Today, Social Deck is a company that has been developing games for use on mobile devices as well as powerful social programs, such as Facebook. A selection of their products has already been released to BlackBerry and the iPhone, with popular titles such as Shake & Spell 3D, Color Connect, and Pet Hero Puzzle credited to the small developer. The firm was launched in 2008, and is best known for their development of free apps that allow simultaneous game play across multiple mobile devices as well as social networking sites. Their programming comes complete with virus protection, distribution rights, and payment facilities. The acquisition isn’t the first, however, but rather the fifth, as Google preps for a big launch in the next few months, rumored to be a direct competitor to the Facebook nation. Called ‘Google Me,’ the new platform will bring a social networking element to the world’s largest search engine, and will apparently have a strong emphasis on gaming, as Google continues to collect companies to that end. Previous purchases made in the last few weeks include Angstro, a service to analyze news searches for more concise and accurate results; Slide, another apps developer, purchased for $182 million, and bringing to the table titles like SuperPoke!, Pets, and Academy of Magic; and Jambool, known for their Social Gold platform that includes payment options in and paves the way for the inevitable legalization of online gambling in the US.
