It has become alarmingly apparent
this week that damage that can be done when incorrect information – or
even rumors – are published as facts. Some internet gambling news forums
reported that the US gambling conglomerate Harrah’s Entertainment had
severed their relationship with the business-to-business company
Dragonfish. The B2B firm is a subsidiary brand of 888.com’s, and
apparently still very much in partnership with Harrah’s; the news that the
pair had parted ways was apparently an untruth. Most message boards are passing off the fluke as an accident of misunderstanding, though other online gambling industry observers have been quick to note that it was an error that could have been cleared up rather quickly, if not avoided altogether with some simple research. The erroneous reports claimed that the partnership between Harrah’s Entertainment - which oversees not only the land-based operations in Las Vegas, but is also the parent company to Harrah’s Interactive, an online gambling division in the UK (for now) – and 888’s Dragonfish had fallen to the wayside, resulting in the early termination of the pair’s agreement – a statement that has been corrected by parties on both sides. One Dragonfish spokesman went so far as to specifically say, on record, that Harrah’s online gambling interests continue to utilize the platforms provided by Dragonfish, and they had just recently extended the agreement to cover Free Play poker games for the US, based under the header of the World Series of Poker, another jurisdiction of Harrah’s. A WSOP casino had just been launched to the UK market as well, and that Harrah’s is proud to offer Dragonfish’s well managed software, covering a range of games, including download and instant access titles. |
