The online gambling company Dragonfish
is back in the internet gambling news this week, with the announcement
that the business-to-business firm had added a brand new social gaming
feature to their bingo networks. The new application is being hailed as
‘virutal gift’ giving, and is the latest element of social networking to
make the cross-over to the world of online gambling. A subsidiary of 888.com, Dragonfish seems to be particularly excited about the additional new feature, which allows players to pass off and given virtual gifts to other members and players while frequenting chat rooms. The gifts are chosen from menus, purchased with acquired Loyalty Points, instead of cash, and sent to the players’ choice via internet exchanges messages. Not only are the gifts little pictures, but also small animations are included in the selection, which can be played for the recipient when they open it. A slew of categories is already available, and will be expanded upon as additional ideas are developed by the team. Flowers, alcoholic beverages, and surprise boxes are just a few of the things that online bingo players can send to one another whilst chatting during a game. Accordingly, the chat rooms have been slightly modified to accommodate the gift giving, with a gift window opening up for ‘shopping’ when pushed. Chat moderators also have the power to send and receive gifts, a nice touch for when players want to show their appreciation. “The virtual gift concept is a fun feature within chat that enhances the community feel and social interaction amongst players,” said David Zerah, the managing director for Dragonfish. “The concept has proven popular in social gaming environments and will add value to the chat features on the Dragonfish bingo platform.” |
