EPT Finds Winner - 1 Despite his ability to hold his own in online casinos, he had only registered one other previous cash win in big live tournaments, as he won a smaller scale World Series of Poker No Limit Hold’Em game earlier this year. The win this week, however, has done plenty to offset that, and brought him into the big leagues quickly by making him the highest earning Scottish poker pro yet. This year’s European Poker Tour, hosted by the internet gambling brand Poker Stars attracted 848 players for the Main Event alone; the players managed to generate a prize pool of £4,112,800. Though it was a game that took much of the attention in the last few days, other events were being played alongside of it, such as the London High Roller No Limit Hold’Em competition, which began Monday, won by Jose Barbero. Barbero is a player that will be more easily recognized by fans as he was the same to win the Poker Stars’ Latin American Poker Tour’s Main Event in Punta del Esta in Uruguay as well as the Main Event in Lima, Peru. The high roller game at this year’s EPT cost a pretty penny, with 77 entrants generating a pool of £1,524,600; the winner was given the lion’s share, taking home £556,000. Second place was won by Jani Sointula, who was awarded £335,000. The final table comprised Vanessa Selbst, USA; Andrew Robl, Canada; Fabian Quoss, Germany; Jose Barbero, Argentina; Jani Sointula, Finland; Matthew Marafioti, Canada; Will Molson, Canada and Pierre Neuville, Belgium. |
