October 17th marks the start date for this year’s poker OktoberFest Celebration, hosted by PKR Poker for the second year in a row. The event will follow the popular pokers site’s Super Series and will last for 12 days, including 12 events. PKR has upped the ante for the total pot, with more than $260K being dished out in cash and prizes. Variety will not be lacking during this year’s OktoberFest, as Neil Wright, card room manager has promised increases all around compared to 2007’s OktoberFest: “Last year's festival was a huge success, and this year's will be bigger and better. We are looking forward to achieving our biggest prize pool ever in the PKR Masters.” Many of the site’s different poker rooms will be open as part of the event, giving players a choice as to how they’d like to participate. The 12 day affair will conclude with a Tournament of Champions, and a PKR Masters tournament. The Tournament of Champions will be a demonstration of the strongest players over the event’s duration, to compete for a $5K Grand Prize, as well as the title of OktoberFest Champ. The total pot of cash and prizes, which is overflowing at an impressive $260K is nearly twice the amount that last year’s OktoberFest summed up to. This year’s event’s focus was not only to jump up the stakes, but to do so in a way that any player that would like to play, could find a slot for themselves- both in play style, as well as affordability. Long running deep stack and speed tournaments, as well as bounty tournaments and Terminator games will be offered. On bounty tournaments, each individual has a bounty on their head, which passes to the winner of the hand that eliminates them. Player bounties can make up as much as 50% of the total prize pot. Creating additional opportunities, gamblers can vie for a spot by playing in satellite tournaments for all the events. Lotteries will be to be had, giving even more chances for seats in the major events. Once all the seats have been chosen, the lucky will be enjoying their 10 minutes of fame, as the final tournaments will be broadcasted via YouTube for the world to see, and on television across Europe. As PKR has not yet made available to the press the details of the final tournament schedule, players are encouraged to check back in at the website for continual updates. |
