Despite the fact that gambling is known to be a hobby needing responsibility to enjoy, occasionally, even the good guys go bad when tempted by money. This seems to have been the case in Western Pennsylvania this past week.

Roger Nogy, the president of the area’s local fire department, allegedly fell victim to temptation this week while hosting a bingo session for charity. According to initial reports, Nogy made arrangements with accomplices to set up the game, agreeing to split the winnings with the final winner.

Requesting anonymity, the woman who won the prize was a friend of Nogy’s and reported that with the help of his wife, the three conspired to set up the bingo game ensuring the woman’s win. They completed the task, and split the $1,500 prize that was being raffled off, intended for charity.

Witnesses reported that Nogy was behaving suspiciously during the charity event, and instead of showing the randomly drawn Bingo ball, he instead read the numbers off very quickly, never showing the balls he pulled to the audience. The chosen-woman won the game very quickly. The woman claims she had no part in planning the scam, and is innocent of that charge, only guilty of splitting the jackpot with the Fire Department’s president. Nogy is being charged with a number of crimes, including theft by deception.
