And another one bites the dust. Lasseters Online Casino has stopped taking bets as their mother company tries to decide if the venture is salvageable. The shut down of Lasseters Online Casino was confirmed in the business section of the Australian newspaper, The Age. The company admits defeat as they close on their 9th year of business, and after almost a month having passes since the closing of their last fiscal year, allotting them a sum total of a A$15.5 million loss. The reports then caused the online sectors to request capital inoculation from the International umbrella. As Lasseters International debates their next move, investigators to the finances were quoted as saying, there was an “inherent uncertainty regarding continuation as a going concern.” In the meantime, all bets have been suspended for the online casino(s), including AusVegas, Lasseters Euro and Lasseters Online. They will continue to be held in deferral until the mother division decides whether or not to bail them out of their financial straits. The only division to continue online is Lasseters Sportsbook, catering to online sports gambling needs. Inquiries into the cause to the problem have been answered with calls against the US’s UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) established almost 2 and a half years ago. The UIGEA does its best to make online gambling difficult for American citizens, prosecuting financial institutions that support the industry, and banning internet casinos on domestic land. |
