Another successful deal has been made in the world of online gambling, providing sports book enthusiasts with a clearer football platform and saving one more football community from going under the dire economic conditions experienced worldwide. 4thegame.com, one of the most accessed and trusted websites for the UK football community has been acquired by online sports gambling group, Sportech, plc, reportedly at the cost of £600,000. One of the primary motives was to save their own company by streamlining major sectors like the Sportech website footballpools.com and strengthening it with football-related ally sites. After Sportech’s announcement of adjusted pre-tax profit drops for the year, preparations to come back in 2009 began immediately. It began with the elimination of all content not football related on footballpools.com, the transference of its poker and casino business to partners at 888 Holdings Plc as well as moving their instant win games for launch in January 2009, also under the 888 name. The acquisition holds great benefit to the 4thegame side as well. Besides the £600K price tag, 4thegame will now enjoy the exposure of a major internet presence to add to their international customer base, and 700,000 members. Sharing content between 4thegame and Sportech’s football sites makes for cost effectiveness everyone can agree upon. Previous owners, Fast Web Media, will continue to provide both operational and creative imput towards the maintenance of the site. The CEO for Fast Web Media seemed to have no regrets: “Sportech is committed to developing and expanding 4thegame.com. We look forward to working with them to build on the current offering and update the existing features and functionality to attract new customers,” said Michael Flynn. |
