It is becoming clearer that the banning of American players from online casinos is a wider issue than originally thought, as more internet casinos are rejecting memberships to US citizens. November 10th marked the first active date that Microgaming-powered casinos were to enforce the prohibition of American players and it has come to light that more companies are following suit than just the Vegas Affiliates that originally made the claim.

The reasons why so many are jumping so eagerly from a boat that provides them access to some of the wealthiest players in the world is still unclear. The reports seem to indicate that the popularity in the rejection standard is growing even as the gambling community awaits an official statement from the software provider based out of the Isle of Man. It's an interesting predicament because no one seems quite sure where the trend is originating in order to examine the source, and see if its perhaps reversible. Some suggest that the licensees were the first to suggest the trend, and only waited until the public caught wind of Microgaming's Vegas Affiliates took action before they themselves made their moves. Others, however, think that the whole debacle is a direct result of such legal contests as the Kentucky issue, continuous problems with e-cash and other risks that correspond to trying to accommodate American players that boiled until Microgaming became just an impetus. And yet, there are posts, blogs and a trail across the internet that leads to Microgaming's door as the initiator, with other online casino networks just following their lead. No matter who holds final claim on the blame the trend with Microgaming in a leadership position means that the whole of the internet gambling community is at a loss. With no members from the most powerful nation on earth means less profits that will need to be made up in other countries to prevent online casinos from going under in the next two years.

The only winners could be considered politicians like Beshear, undoubtedly rejoicing as the gaming community refuses to support one another, and instead finds itself in the midst of self-destructing themselves as well as any progress that has been made against the UIGEA. With the only exceptions falling to online state lotteries and horseracing, there are very few indeed who will come out on top.
