The most recent change comes at the top of the proverbial food change as a new CEO takes her place at the head of the company. Maria Karlsson has been working with Bet24 in some capacity since she completed her management trainee program with owner of the site Modern Times Group AB in 2004. She’s celebrated a very quick rise to the stop, only stopping on the way to sit as Chief Financial Officer in 2006. The decision was made late last year, allowing Karlsson to sit in as deputy CEO this past January with predecessor Lotta Lindquist-Brosjo. Lindquist-Brosjo will be stepping down voluntarily to pursue other business interests. She was CEO for BET24 for two years. The Board seems unanimous in their support of Karlsson; Chairman Jorgen Madsen had the following to say about the promotion: “Maria has an extensive knowledge of the business as she has been both CFO and Deputy CEO. In her roles she has also been very much involved in the transformation of Bet24 during the past years and she will be able to take us to the next level.” He commented on the strengths that Linquist-Brosjo had brought to the position, and spoke of her affirmative actions in refocusing and reorganizing some of the company’s primary structure. She was credited with much of the success Bet24 has seen in the last two years. Since taking over ownership in 2005, MTG has seen Bet24 surge in terms of profit to an impressive $16 million, with a sales total of $50 million in 2007. According to reports, 2008 has seen a growth of 29% in the first nine months, with similar increases in the corresponding profits. BET24 is active in more than 70 countries world-wide and offers a myriad of gambling services and opportunities including poker, casino games, bingo & lotteries as well as local sporting events in 15 languages.
