William Hill, one of the largest and most well-respected names in online casinos and bookmaking, has acquired an asset in the world of advertising and television in his own right and has decided to keep him close with an appointment as non-executive director. Ashley Highfield, formally the Director, New Media and Technology for BBC has decided to accept Will’s offer.

Charles Scott, Chairman for William Hill, seemed very excited about the acquisition, gushing: “I am delighted that Ashley has agreed to join the board of William Hill plc as a non-executive director. His wide-ranging experience and knowledge of the digital world will be a real asset to the company and our online platforms, bringing an even deeper understanding of existing and emerging technologies, and an expert and realistic sense of what can be achieved in this area.”

In addition to his directing duties at BBC, Highfield sat as a member on both the executive and management boards. He left in 2008 to develop Project Kangaroo as CEO. The project is bill as a partnership between ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC (all based out of the UK) to offer services for commercials-on-demand both to digital box tops and online consumers.

Highfield’s new term will begin November 17th of this year, and includes a position on William Hill’s Board as well.
