There are disturbances in the waters surrounding Full Tilt Poker and their advertising partners as the major world online poker provider prepares itself for going to court against what they deem as a fruitless, meritless case with a poker personality.

The case was filed in the Nevada system by the American Poker ace and celebrity Cycalona “Clonie” Gowen, known primarily for her Top 10 finish during the 2003 World Poker Tour in Costa Rica, the highest rated WPT event ever broadcast on television. Her connection to the poker community (she’s also a regular columnist for the poker magazine All In) combined with her attractive looks (she was also a former teenaged beauty queen in Texas) made her an ideal sponsor for the website. She agreements with Full Tilt date back as far as 2004, according to the lawsuit, in which she claims breach of contract and fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and fraud, and a breach of the Convenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing. She’s asking Nevada courts to grant her an astounding $40 million in damages from Tiltware, LLC as well as a lengthy list of individuals famous in the poker industry mentioned separately in her suit.

Her actions were spurred by her being released from contractual contact with the company; Gowen was informed that her services as spokesperson were no longer wanted with Full Tilt and everything related to their connection would be removed from the site promptly. The District Court of Judge Robert C Jones received her 20 page lawsuit shortly thereafter. Full Tilt, however, seem barely concerned with the issue, more bothered by the paperwork of the accusations than anything else.

“Tiltware, LLC, has been made aware of the recent filing of a meritless lawsuit by a former Full Tilt Poker endorser - Ms. Cycalona Gowen. All claims have no merit and there are many inaccuracies improperly and unlawfully asserted by Ms. Gowen within her frivolous complaint. Tiltware LLC expects that this lawsuit will be dealt with accordingly by a competent court in due course,” read the public statement issued by the company following media inquiries.
