The online gambling firm Poker Stars has already had themselves quite a spring season with the completion of their European Poker Tour coming to a dramatic head with the win by 23-year old pro out of Beirut. The adventures continue into the month of May as the second annual SCOOP finds itself on the internet casino news boards, advertised to offer as much as $45 million in prizes through the online tournament. The SCOOP tourney, as the Poker Stars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker is fondly referred to, will open this weekend, with a number of events offered to fit every online gamblers’ price range. It’s managed as a three tiered tournament series, featuring low, medium and high buy-in prices. The culmination of the expected participation with the guaranteed prize pools will sum to more than $45 million in available winnings for internet poker players. Last year’s event was a success, but this year even has that topped: the amount of prize money distributed in 2009 came to $38 million, showing a growth of $7 million in only a year. Last year hosted more than 200,000 buy-ins in the 22 different events, also managed on three levels. The American players were the clear winning demographic in their inaugural year, reported the internet casino group Poker Stars’, though they hoped that last year’s success would attract an even greater number of players from around the world for the 2010 go. The first events will launch through the online casino’s lobby on Sunday, beginning at 13:00 Eastern Standard Time (New York). At that time three tournaments will begin: on the low, middle, and high ends for buy-ins of $22, $215 and $2,100 respectively. In the afternoon another three games will start, with the same buy-ins. Players interested in participating in the SCOOP tournament are encouraged to check out all the details on the Poker Stars’ home page. |
