A winner has been decided for this year’s Grand Prix de Paris, with the champion coming out as none other than Danish poker pro Theo Jorgensen of Copenhagen, Denmark. He managed to hold his own against a field of 247 entrants, with the 36 year coming out not only with the World Poker Tour winner’s bracelet, and prestige, but a cash prize of €633,902 as well. Out of the €2,347,797 prize pool, he certainly came away with the largest share, in addition to a seat at the World Poker Tour World Championship to be held at the end of the season, a seat worth $25,000 in itself.

The tournament took place at the Aviation Club de France, with the Main Event carrying a $10,000 buy-in. It certainly caught the attention of the online gambling community as the excitement unfolded, hosted by the internet casino Party Poker.com. The final table alone carried a significant number of well-liked players, giving cause for railbirds to care, including Russian Alexander Kravchenko, Antony Lellouche, and Frenchie Patrick Bruel. The departure of Bruel clearly had its effect on the crowd, as many stood by just to watch the actor play.

The Grand Prix de Paris marked the kick-off for the World Poker Tour 2010-2011 season, and brought plenty of old and new stars from both the live poker circuit and the online gambling circles out. Among them were other, previous WPT Champs, such as Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier, Surinder Sunar, Thomas Bichon, Tommy Vedes, Freddy Deeb and Guillaume Darcourt. Coverage of the event was provided by Matchroom Sport, with regular updates available on the internet gambling host Party Gaming’s websites.

The final day began with Jorgensen already in a strong lead, holding 1.5 million more in chips than his closest rival, Fabrice Touil. It was an advantage that he used to its fullest potential. The others in the final furore were Nourredine Aïtaleb, Arnaud Mattern, Per Linde, Michael Guenni, Antoine Amourette, and Jimmy Ostensson. Per Linde took third, with Amourette holding on for the heads up against Jorgensen. The huge difference in chips gave him little hope to recoup the loss.
