Two of the largest names in online gambling are coming together conquer the French poker market, newly liberalized to the excitement of the internet gambling community. With the freedom of the French industry opening up to offshore online casinos, provided they meet the regulatory standards, it makes sense that Microgaming and 888.com would be on the cusp of the movement.

The two announced this week that they would be joining forces in order to launch a new, France-facing online poker network, sure to be a success, considering the power and force – not to mention money – that back both Microgaming and 888.com. The pooled player liquidity alone will be a huge attraction for members, providing them with plenty of well-rounded competition, linking a world of players together.

888 Holdings, which backs the 888.com online casino brand, is known for their strength in both technological and marketing, while Microgaming by far has huge advantages in terms of developing innovative software. The jointure will undoubtedly strike fear into the heart of competing offshore internet gambling companies looking to also take advantage of the newly liberalized French market.

"This deal marks a turning point in the industry, with big networks collaborating in newly regulated markets to create a shared pool of liquidity, benefiting customers and assisting in rapidly generating large poker networks in each market,” said Gigi Levy, the chief executive officer of 888.com, releasing a statement with the confirmation of the contract. The CEO for Microgaming, Roger Raatgever, agreed, saying, “We are delighted to be working with 888 to deliver a poker solution to the French market. We look forward to combining our wealth of experience and knowledge to bring the highest global standards to the local market.”
