One would be hard pressed to find an online gambler who does not at least occasionally dream of how their life would change should they hit it big, though many agree that the diversion is just as pleasant to spend a few dollars playing at an internet casino just for the fun of it. One player managed to walk away from what would have been just another poker night in with more than a million dollars, taking a fair share of the money and excitement built up around the most recent edition of the SCOOP tournament. The Spring Championship of Online Poker found its latest Main Event winner last week with the success of Ryan Fair, a professional poker player out of Florida, in the United States. With the completion of the Main Event of the Tournament, all of which is hosted and sponsored by the internet casino group Poker Stars, Ryan walked away an easy millionaire, taking the grand prize of $1,162,350 to accompany his title as champion. Though a self-professed pro, it was by far and large the biggest win that Ryan had yet received, in spite of a few significant cash wins at live tournaments. His win was well-earned and deserved, however, beginning with the steep price tag of $10,300 for the Main Event’s buy-in. The convenience of the online gambling SCOOP tournament encouraged 615 players to sign up, each signing in to compete against their fellow virtual competitors. The prize pool generated from the Main Event’s attendance came to a respectable $6,150,000. The heads up at the game’s conclusion saw Ryan facing off against Kristoffer Thorsson, though Ryan’s chip lead gave him a strong advantage with which he quickly closed the gap and ended the game. The mid-level Main Event saw more players, but with a buy-in of only $1,050 + $50, the 3.675 players were fighting over a prize pool coming to just over half the high roller event’s, with the sum totaling $3.6 million. A player with the screen name of Mr M M0ney managed to win the first prize on the mid-level, taking home $443,137 for his efforts, after a three-way chop with the persistent players cooperz0311 and Athanasios9. |
