Two online casinos sent ripples of alarm through the online gambling community this past week, as their members were automatically rerouted from the domain names entered to an entirely separate internet gambling site. Both casinos, powered by Rival software, had their players rerouted to an entirely different site, powered by an entirely different service, and calling into question who the owner/operators for the three involved sites are, or if perhaps some sick sort of hacking had taken place. To make things more complicated, neither Slot Power.com or Vanguard Casino.com were saying anything about that matter, nor were their owners, First Gaming Partners, Inc. Both sites just stopped access to their URL addresses, with all players being redirected instead to Manhattan Slots, an online casino owned by Club World Casinos. Still, in spite of all the inquiries, First gaming remained silent. To matters more confusing, requests to Club World Casino for an explanation were answered, with a spokesperson from CWC saying that no B2B contract had been signed between the two operators. The re-route has since been disabled, as still more questions come up. First Gaming has finally issued a notification to all their affiliate partners, but no statement has been made for players’ benefit. The affiliates were informed that because the Rival software wasn’t living up to the online casinos’ expectations, a move was deemed necessary. They called attention to issues with both conversion ratios, as well as ‘player values,’ saying that there was no alternative available but to drop Rival as their provider. Affiliates were also asked to, for the time being, hold off on sending additional traffic to the disabled URLs. The sites have moved domain names, changing from slotpower.com to slotpower.co.uk; the same goes for vanguardcasino.com. Affiliates have been asked to update their links with the appropriate tags. The notification, as expected, extended apologies for the inconvenience, but failed to answer the still pressing question of why they didn’t notify anyone of the pending changes until too late. |
