Sazka reported this past week that they had paid out plenty of winnings to encourage players to continue their buys, dishing out more than $211 million in prizes throughout the 2009 year. The sum was marginally better than the previous year, when Sazka didn’t offer their products through an online gambling platform, coming to an increase of 9.8 percent for year-on-year stats. That’s not to say that in-person betting terminals throughout the Czech Republic aren’t getting plenty of action; in fact, Sazka reportedf that the purchases of both lottery and non-lottery products at such terminals last year totaled $893 million. The profits were pretty evenly divided between the two categories, with $403 million coming from betting and lottery platforms, while the remaining $490 million was attributed to payments for non-gambling related services. The lists of such services include things like mobile phone top-up service, sales of tickets for sports, cultural and other events, payments by paying-in slips, invoice and insurance payments or payments for services and goods ordered over the Internet.
