Though the United Kingdom’s Advertising Agency has been responsible for quite a few bumps in the road for online gambling companies looking to promote in the British region, the latest disputes for operating gambling businesses seem to be originating from the UK’s Gambling Commission. The Commission, normally viewed as a responsible and objective organization that monitors the regulation and popularity of all forms of betting in the UK, including online gambling, has cancelled yet another license for another British licensee, but with little information as to why. The instance, filed against ATL Amusements and ATL Hire, run by Nicky Shorrock and Andrew Uppinton, is the second cancellation of a license since the beginning of March, when Operating License Number 000-002604-R-104107-004 was suspended for Game Account’s Global Limited. Their business centered primarily on internet casino activity, though few details have become available from that case as well, as the Commission has not yet released the final results of their inquiry. Shorrock and Uppington will now face the same fate as the Commission looks more closely into their business dealings and operation during the suspension. Citing section 116 of the 2005 Gambling Act, they simply noted that the operation license number 000-022061-N-306796-001 assigned to ATL Amusements would be suspended until further notice. Additional research has revealed that the gambling operation in question is an adult gaming center, and also supplies machines to other locations. “The suspension is an interim measure, the need for which will be kept under consideration during the review,” read the notice. “The Commission will make no further comment until the review is complete.” |
