While affiliate programs and referral systems certainly have their place in the online gambling industry, one internet casino firm has made a commitment for this year to pursue their new customers directly. According to a statement made by chief executive officer Jim Ryan, head of Party Gaming plc, the new plan in action will be to advertise directly to online casino customers as their referral program through the very successful poker network has had some less than desirable side effects. For one, Ryan said that the group had a concern about how referring their poker players might affect the player liquidity for their poker network. With their online casino games being so very attractive, the fact that gamblers only have so much money to play with, and time to do so was actually taking players away from the game of poker, and seeing more existing members signing on for slots and other table games directly. Though it’s certainly more cost-effective to cross-advertise to existing customers, in the long run, it seems to be counter-productive to one or the other divisions. Ryan certainly has good reason to want his online casino division to succeed as firm after firm discovers the fiscal potential that internet gambling has to offer. He did, however, clarify that those players who signed up for Party Casino directly, as new members, were twice as valuable over their playing lifetimes as those who were persuaded from the poker side. Calling them ‘pure-play’ gamblers, Ryan said in his most recent statement that they will be the demographic of choice from now on. To do so, their marketing strategy will have to change in the coming months. Though more expensive at the on-set, attracting new players from other sites through incentive programs and bonuses will play a big part in the strategy. Ryan has promised that the online casino will see the addition of at least 50 new games throughout the year, and that jackpots will be restructured so that more payouts will be ‘life-changing.’ "Today we have the largest reset value in our Melon Madness Jackpot [that] starts at $1.5 million," Ryan said. "Nobody else can match that in the sector.” |
