2010 will undoubtedly be a year of change, not only for nations like France, Canada, and hopefully the United States of America, in terms of the legalization and liberalization of the online gambling industries, but as more and more government are taking into serious consideration the solutions that internet casino tax dollars could provide, the issue of social responsibility comes to the forefront of the arguments. Nations simply won’t pass laws permitting online casinos to thrive if the politicians behind closed doors are convinced that doing so will encourage corruption in sports, or increase the rates of addiction to gambling. Betfair is one online gambling group that intends to stay in front of the race for stable and responsible gambling practices, as they’re one of a few firms that have established an entire entity devoted to responsible gambling and the effects that internet casinos may (or may not ) have on social issues. A new leader of this division, called Sustainable Gambling, has been appointed this week, as Malcolm Bruce, the former leader of the United Kingdom’s Responsibility in Gambling Trust makes the move to Betfair. Bruce has accepted the new title as Head of Sustainable Gambling this week, bringing yet another well-respected powerhouse to the firm’s roster of employees. His portfolio exceeds expectations for the role, a resume that makes clear his dedication to the industry’s pledge to social responsibility. He will be in charge of both developing and implementing programs based on research and evidence that will serve as the primary components to a radical agenda in the coming years. Betfair is in and of itself one of the leaders in the online gambling industry, making Bruce’s new job no less daunting. More than two million registered users are members of the site, playing at the online casinos from all around the world. A spokesman said that preserving a sense of ethics in all they do, even as they grow is essential to their overall business model, making responsible gambling a much higher priority on their list than of some of their competitors. |
