People love to gamble. And there have been multiple reports of poker gamblers turning very small amounts of cash into thousands of profits. But for most who frequent the online casinos, seed money is necessary to turn a profit, and for those without it, nor experience the options can be few. One online poker player made a choice that will now cost him a lot of time and stress, when he stole from his father in order to gambling in internet casinos.

According to a report out of the UK, a 21-year old young man by the name of Blair Robertson managed to blast though £25,000 of his dad’s funds on an online gambling spree that lasted three months. The Greenock Telegraph reported that Robertson has since admitted to his crime of forging his father’s signature on stolen checks, cashing them in bank in nearby Gourock. The money was spent not only in online casinos, but allowed him to take a trip on his daddy’s dime, and even buy a car.

The checks belonged to his father’s employer, an engineering firm. Though 21 years old, Robertson is still living at home, and his father settled for a plea bargain that will take jail out of the punishment. Instead, the youth has signed the car over to his dad and will complete 150 hours of community service. He will make amends to his dad and the company as best as he can by working without pay, doing both what he can for the firm and with household chores.

"My mum and dad were really disappointed,” said Robertson. "I was stupid. I was just having a good time. I went on a couple of holidays and bought a car. I told my dad I was paying up the car. I had 17 casino cards, and played online poker, £1,000 at a time. I probably gambled most of it. The money was spent in three months."
