The negotiations for an agreement between the Australian online gambling firm TAB and the tech company Two Way Limited were concluded earlier this year, though the plans laid out in the contract didn’t come into being until this week. The announcement was made to the rest of the online gambling community that the launch of the new TAB Active betting services have now gone live. The new service is up and running already for the online gamblers residing in the states of South Australia and Queensland, and are encouraged to check out the new interactive TV gambling platform. The two states join Victoria and New South Wales, where the TAB Active platform had already been up and running. The system combines television, with online gambling by allowing punters to make their bets through a subscription service linked to the television feed. The service is available on more than one television broadcasting station as well, including all three of the Sky Racing stations offered though Optus and Fox Tel. While watching the channels, all it takes is the pressing of a well placed, red button to activate the TAB Active service, bringing up all the current stats on the races including the UniTAB odds for the most popular bets of the day. The next race to be run is given, along with the option to watch it live, with responsible gambling messages displayed on the screen. “This is the first time that our interactive television service has gone live outside New South Wales and Victoria,” said Ben Reichel, chief executive and managing director for Two Way. “We are very pleased to give UNiTAB customers in Queensland and South Australia a taste of this highly convenient and easy-to-use wagering service. We hope that punters in Queensland and South Australia will soon be able to enjoy the full service that is currently available to punters in New South Wales and Victoria and which will soon be available in Western Australia.” |
