With the recent announcement that the iPhone 4th generation would be released to the public on the 25th of June, app developers of all kinds are rushing to be on the forefront of the movement, with those representing the online gambling sector keeping up rather well. The latest application to hit the market is being promoted by a poker pro, as Vanessa Rousso follows in the footsteps already trod by Annie Duke, who released a poker app of her own weeks ago. The title of the new app for interested online gamblers is Poker 1-on-1 with Vaness Rousso, and is already available in the app store, accessible through the mobile devices, iPads and iTouches. Whereas many of the other teaching apps rely on tutorials, Rousso’s contribution instead leans on a ‘learn by doing’ technique, that uses simulations, games and challenges to guide the player in instruction. It’s a perfect fit for online casino gamblers who prefer to jump in head first and figure it out as they go alone. While doing so in a live internet casino can be quite costly for mistakes, Rousso’s app provides a similar experience for free, eliminating the actual real money costs of learning on the go. Additionally, the application is designed to be fun, including a slew of challenges and games that in themselves would be engaging to any poker player. Players can even challenge a ‘virtual Vanessa,’ or compete against a friend in practice games via Bluetooth connection. “My biggest passion outside of playing poker is in teaching poker strategy. I love watching that light bulb go off in my students minds when they discover something new,” Rousso says. “It is very exciting when their confidence level improves as a result of implementing what they have learned.” |
