While there can be no debate that the majority of the online sports betting action nowadays is geared towards the impending FIFA World Cup of Soccer, there is also an interesting category that is gaining some popularity, as the next US presidential election finds itself taking the place of the now-concluded Prime Minister elections in the UK. Even the declaration for running for President in America is still more than a year off, and yet, internet casinos are beginning to take bets on the most likely persons to run… and win. The early favorite has been shown clearly as Mitt Romney to capture the front-runner position for the Republican Party. The new Tea Party is also included, though it’s getting far less support and attention from internet gamblers than one might expect. The Party’s polls have been less than enthusiastic about having Palin as their front-runner despite her appearances in connection with the burgeoning group; apparently, her identification with conservatives are keeping the liberals from backing such a choice. Sarah Palin is following Romney’s tail, with a 5-to-1 payoff should she manage to get the nomination for the GOP party. Romney is paying out 11-to-4. Another name that keeps popping up at the online gambling websites is that of Ron Paul, though granted at a very small chance of winning. Analysts and common betting patterns agree that his odds of getting the nomination aren’t more than 25-to-1, significantly low on the list topped by almost a dozen others. His support has been identified as primarily grassroots, where he intends of developing his campaign in the next year. An old goodie has also made it back on the scene, as Newt Gingrich is listed at 12-to-1. Many analysts have postulated that he might be a name well-enough known to bring back all of the disparate elements of the Republican Party. He’s on good terms with the Tea Party as well, in spite of his name being closely identified with the Reagan administration of years past, a favorite of times for many American conservatives. Players checking into special events on online gambling sites will want to avoid sure-losses, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s. Though odds put him at 50-to-1, he isn’t even eligible for nomination as he wasn’t born a US citizen. |
