It seems that in spite of the potential delay in launching an online gambling poker regulatory system for poker, interested parties are still full speed ahead in terms of acquiring the appropriate and needed partnerships and licenses. The latest update in the French liberalization news comes courtesy of the British online gambling software provider, Orbis, which announced this week that they had acquired an agreement with Pari Mutual Urbain, aka PMU.

The deal struck between the two powerful entities lays out the groundwork necessary to introduce a new sports book for now, and also provides for the addition of a poker site when permissible. According to a report by The Telegraph, a newspaper in the UK, the details of the agreement will be revealed to the rest of the internet gambling community by the end of the month, releasing for now only chosen information.

Among the revelations made was the confirmation that the new internet gambling services will be running on the OpenBet sports book platform, provided by Orbis. The live odds for the new site will be courtesy of Paddy Power, already an existing partner in the Orbis system. Players will be enthused to discover that live feed of statistics and updated prices will be available through the site, requiring to go no further. French law has also permitted bets-in-running, allowing for new wagers to be placed on an event after it has begin. Major sporting events such as the Tour de France and even this month’s World Cup are expected to become huge sources of income for both Orbis and their local partner, PMU.

Executives from both companies made statements confirming the agreement, with the CEO for Orbis identifying his company as a prime source of success as many of the online casino groups look to move into the new French market, calling attention to Orbis’ software expertise and existing customer base. Christopher Leray, speaking as chief information officer for PMU, seemed to agree, saying, “With Orbis strong reputation and proven track record of compliance together with their enviable expertise in sports book online software, they are the perfect partner to support us as we lead the way in our new online betting market.”
