Though there has been little progress on the political front of getting the online gambling industry legalized in the US, one powerhouse company is continuing to push for change as they up the ante on their lobbying for the cause. Harrah’s Entertainment is arguably the largest land-based casino in America, and recently entered the online gambling industry with the launch of Harrah’s Interactive just last year. They’ve since been at the forefront of the lobbying, pushing to get the market legalized and regulated, as they already have a strong based in the US, and could potentially stand to make the most money out of the new laws.

According to a recent report by the Legal Times, the internet gambling group has recently signed with yet another lobbying group in order to expand their voice, and get it heard in Washington. The organization, identified as Capital Counsel, has been retained by Harrah’s Entertainment to encourage and persuade the government representatives in favor of voting on legalization. They are by no means the only ones, as Harrah’s has hired the services of other well known lobbying groups, as well, including names such as the Podesta Group, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, and even Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck.

Harrah’s is unquestionably one of the companies spending the most amount of money. According to a recent set of numbers, the first quarter alone of this year saw Harrah’s putting up almost a million, laying down $905,515 for legalization lobbying, said the disclosure records.
