As one of the powerhouses of the game, Ivey has earned himself the honor of his own poker room on the Las Vegas Strip. According to a report by the Associated Press, the poker pro will be honored by the dedication of a lush poker room called the Ivey Room at the Aria Resort & Casino. The dedication is to take place this week. A statement was made by the MGM Mirage this past Thursday, during which a representative confirmed the opening of a brand new, one table, high limit poker room with Ivey’s name on it. The room is located in the Aria Resort & Casino at City Center, one of MGM’s many properties in Vegas. Internationally known, Ivey is recognized as one of the best poker players in the world, having accrued millions in profits for not only online gambling tournaments, but also the live poker games that hold the market’s attention. Carrying seven World Series of Poker bracelets, he is a league unto his own. But that’s not to say he’s the first to be recognized with his own poker room. Another was dedicated for Boddy Baldwin, one of the MGM Mirage’s chief design and construction officers, known to be an accomplished gambler himself. Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio was built for him, commemorating his accomplishments of having won four WSOP events, including the 1978 Main Event. Nicknamed ‘The Owl,’ Baldwin is actually to be credited with having supervised the construction of City Center, where Ivey’s room is located. The Aria is the only casino in the 67-acre complex. The opening of the new room will appropriately be celebrated with a poker tournament, open to celebrities and VIPs, scheduled for Saturday. The winner will walk with $250,000 and a chance to play Ivey in a heads-up. If Ivey should be knocked out of the tournament beforehand, that player will win an additional $100,000.
