According to reports, the firm has acquired a 33 percent in another company, the firm Kelicom, a Russian online gambling company, known for their sports betting operations. The number one brand recognized will surely be the Favorit Bookmakers Office, and Intralot has no doubt taken note of the severe advantages that Favorit’s extensive member base will grant them. Intrlot has acquired their third in Kelicom, which in turn currently holds 74.9 percent of the Favorit brand. The agreement signed this week includes a clause that could see that share increase to a whole 100 percent, though the business plan for that goal has not yet been released to the online casino press. The Favorit brand of internet sports betting was established in 2002, and is one of the lead names in Russia for their specialty. Though the Russian laws on gambling are ridiculously strict, the new regime does leave some room for legal betting, within which category Favorit operates. They currently hold a five year license through the Federal Tax Service, granting them permission to cater to the region’s gamblers. Constantinos Antonopoulos, the CEO at Intralot, said this week: “Through this acquisition our already established presence in Russia will become even stronger,” said Constatinos Antonopoulos, the chief executive officer for Intralot. “Intralot is now moving ahead and entering the emerging and highly promising Russian betting market under a new and tightly regulated regime that promotes competition among credible license holders, one of which is Favorit.”
