As this year's World Series of Poker continues, bracelets seem to be eluding some of the biggest names in the online gambling community. It continues to be an exciting tournament, with the most famous and aggressive of poker players showing up to try their luck against their peers. Among those struggling to take first place titles are fan favorites Phil Hellmuth and Tom 'durrr' Dwan. But there's no arguing that the 41st edition of the World Series I'd providing plenty of entertainment for the Internet gambling community. The recent game of $10K Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better managed to take out quite a few of stars, Hellmuth and Dwan among them. Hellmuth's efforts are solidly motivated, as it would be his 12th and earn him the record. Dwan, despite his reputation, has yet to take home a WSOP bracelet. Event 23 found itself a conclusion and a winner in Russ Dutch Boyd, his second. The $2,500 buy in Limit Hold'Em Six Handed game saw the entry of enty of stars before Boyd took home the title of the 3rd day. He was well pleased with the first place cash prize of $234,065 in te ninth level, finally winning out against Brian Meinders after a tough heads up. It was a game for the books and legends, as Boyd enetered into the match up with Meinders holding a 4-to-1 advantage. Boyd won his first bracelet during the 2006 events, taking the win from Joe Hachem in a six handed No Limit Hold'em game. Five hundred and seven players sat for Event 24's second day of play, whittled down from the 3,289 entrants for the $1,000 buy in No Limit Hold'em game this year. When Online Casino Style went to press, james Rosenthal was heading up the pack, in the lead with 905,000 in chips to his name. Dean Schankin was following in second with 490,000. |
