continued from WSOP Update - 6 At long last, the well known and respected Phil Ivey has made this year’s World Series of Poker one for the online gambling history books as he finally takes home his 8th bracelet and first place win. The elusive event has been a challenge for him this year, with the 41st World Series of Poker well on its way before he was able to secure a qualifying win. With the closure of the 27th day of play, that changed, with one of the biggest names in internet gambling finally making his goal and record. The infamous Ivey was named champion for Event 37, a game of H.O.R.S.E that carried a $3,000 buy-in price tag. The win was made even more impressive with the turnout of other well loved players from both the live poker circuits and the online casino world, as Ivey fired up his game against the whole of the competition, determined to get his eighth bracelet. The final table read like a list of the best, with Jeffrey Lisandro, John Juanda, Bill Chen, Kenneth Aldridge, Chad Brown, David Baker, Albert Hahn and Ryan Hughes sitting down to give the internet casino community something to talk about. Between them, they brought 18 World Series of Poker titles and gold bracelets, and if one were to sum total all of their career winnings from the game of poker, it would total more than $14 million. |
