Event 54 was the very last in one of the most popular categories of games, a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’Em game. David Peters held the chip lead for the majority of the time, with his challengers refusing to comply to a simple win. Forty-seven players made it onto Day 3 action, a huge drop from Day 2’s starting numbers with 586 players, and the original playing field filled with 3,844 gamblers. Though quite later than hoped or scheduled, the final table was finally determined with the domination of the following players: David Peters, Marcel Vonk, Henrik Tollefson, Nathan Jessen, Matthew Lupton, Dustin Dorrance-Bowman, Paul Kerr, Espen Moen, and Mehul Chaudhari. The winner will walk away with $570,960.

Meanwhile, the end of Event refused to come, another game requiring a $10,000 buy-in, but for the game of Omaha. The Pot Limi Omaha Championship, as it were, had four very determined players still battling it out by the close of play on Sunday night. At level 30, French poker ace Ludovic Lackay was in the lead with a nearly 2-to-1 chip advantage against his nearest rival, Daniel Alaei. Ville Mattila and Miguel Proulx rounded out the competition with the close of day 4. That game had attracted quite a few online gambling favorites, such as Phil Hellmuth and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan among the 346 original entrants.

Finally, there is Event 56, the third in the last of the games for the 41st edition of the World Series of Poker, hosted by Harrah’s Entertainment in Las Vegas, Nevada. A No Limit Hold’Em tournament, event 56 required a buy-in of $2,500 and attracted only 1,941 players, significantly less than opted for a cheaper ante. The youthful poker enthusiast James Mackay lead the chip counts at the end of Day 2, holding more than double to his nearest opponent. His good luck didn’t appear to be strong enough, however, as Joseph Curcio overtook the lead in the final table action, and Tomer Berda coming in as runner-up.
