The latest update for the ongoing current World Series of Poker has become available as the internet gambling community continues to flock to the city of Las Vegas in droves for a taste of the live poker excitement for themselves. The most recent big winner has made quite a splash, as his story hits the internet casino forums. Harold Angle has waited very patiently for the poker world to reward him with the honor of a World Series of Poker bracelet.

The wait and reward have been well earned, as the 78-year old has been playing the game of poker for 60 solid years, and finally won his first WSOP bracelet with the conclusion of this year’s Event 34, a $1,000 buy-in Seniors No Limit Hold’Em World Championship. With three days behind him and holding out against an impressive field of 3,142 other players, Angle took the Golden Eagle title and win in his first World Series.

The heads up was played against Michael Minetti, who helped considerably in wearing down the final table. The third day of play dawned with 23 players showing up, though the numbers swindled quickly as Angle, Minetti and John Woo methodically eliminated the competition. At one point, it seemed as if John Woo had it in the bag. One lucky hand turned Angle’s luck in evening the chip counts. By the time Angle’s two pairs faced off against pocket queens held by Woo, it became clear who the winner would have to be. Angle managed to walk with a very admirable $487,994 for his efforts. The 10-to-1 chip lead in the heads up against Minetti all but ensured from the outset that the latter would be walking with a respectable $301,839.

Meanwhile other online gambling news was being made over at Event 35, the Heads Up Hold’Em Championship was in full swing, having demanded buy-ins of $10,000 of each of the 256 entrants, most of whom will be names easily recognized by the rest of the internet gambling community. A winner had yet to be made at this time of writing, with Ayaz Mahmood and Ernst Schmejkal still battling hard core for the honor.
