Some additional news has become available in relation to Loto-Quebec’s pursuit of regulation for online gambling services to the Canadian market. According to the latest update, a contract has been assigned and accepted that will develop a new partnership between Loto-Quebec and the internet casino software company Openbet, formally known as Orbis Technology. The company is based out of the United Kingdom, and will be providing services for the proposed online casino platform.

The poker menu to be offered was not assigned to Openbet, however, as an agreement has already been signed with fellow firm GTech G2 and their International Poker Network, a grouping of poker websites offering a healthy player liquidity, surely an appealing point for the Canadian market. The poker platform is already under development through a partnership between the Atlantic Lottery Corporation and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

So far, the proposal has been greenlighted, with the launch of the new online gambling platform planned to hit the scene by the end of the year. According to a report by the Montreal Gazette, Openbet has already made strides in preparing to open a representative office in the Canadian city, creating 15 new jobs in the region just to start. Still under consideration are the protective and prevention measures promised to the government, measures that Loto-Quebec’s CEO Alain Cousineau has promised will be among the most innovative as well as comprehensive in all the industry.

"Loto-Québec intends to bring its online games of chance project to fruition with all of its well-known rigour and integrity," said Cousineau. “We will be offering Québecers a choice of entertaining games like poker, various table games and sports betting within a controlled circuit and in a secure environment whose integrity will be beyond question.”
