The power shifts continue this week with news that a name that has been most strongly associated with the World Poker Tour will be teaming up with another internet gambling brand, Chili Poker.com. According to rumors all but confirmed this week, Rohin Malhotra’s start date has been set as September 1st of this year, giving him just about 6 weeks left before stepping in as a member of Chili’s membership team. The move is a good one, considering Chili Poker.com is one of the few and coveted online gambling firms to have been granted a license to operate in the newly liberalized French market. According to a press statement by Chili Poker, Malhotra will be joining the team, a valuable asset bringing years of online gambling industry expertise to the team, including experience in the global media and gaming markets. His contributions are expected to be a significant part of their growth plan over the next 18 months. Malhotra’s resume is full of reasons for Chili Poker’s choice, including acting as chief executive officer for the World Poker Tour. Before the brand’s sale to online gambling company Party Gaming, he had been an instrumental part in their success. Prior to working for WPT, he was at Party, serving his time as head of programming and international marketing. Other credits include stints with Fox Sports Enterprises, MTV Networks in Asia, and Fox Kids Europe. “I am delighted that Rohin is joining Chilipoker. He brings vast experience in the poker, gaming and media industries,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO and founder of Chilipoker. “We look forward to working together and enjoying Rohins ability to bring Chilipoker to even more players and countries via our existing and new entertaining gaming products.” |
