Some good news is coming in for the UC Group, a company that specializes in providing online casinos groups with web-based payment services. The corporation struggled through 2008, with their pre-tax profits down to a mere £218,221 from a much more lucrative 2007, in which they earned £2.42 million. The loss was devastating, but the UC Group isn’t giving up hope just yet, as they’re New Year seems to hold more than a little promise.

The company provides internet payment services to online gambling firms, including specialized software that helps target money laundering schemes. The upsetting losses from the last two years are now being blamed on the poor decision to focus solely on the specific programming, losing focus on any of their only products and streamlining – too much. Additionally, the had difficulty with some large write-backs in 2007, setting the stage for destruction, from which the UC Group is now coming back from, lessons learned.

Most recently, the UC Group has focused their investment funds on lobbying the US government, working towards the legalization of the online gambling industry in America. Last year, they spent nearly $1.48 million on promoting the liberalization of internet casinos, and intends to throw more money towards the cause in 2010. They have a roster of ten different gambling firms that they work with, offering both anti-money laundering measures as well as back-office operations support.

Other changes for success include the addition of the former Labor government minister David Blunkett in January of 2009, who said in a recent announcement to shareholders that their core profits had risen an impressive 39 percent, while the number of transactions processed had jumped 24 percent. If the rate continues, the firm will have done more than comeback from their miserable last 18 months.

"The USA remains core to our ambitions and every effort is being made to harness the potential commercial opportunity this will present," CEO Kobus Paulsen said recently.
