While the first two weeks of the new year have been relatively slow in regards to partnerships between online gambling companies, a negotiation is working its way to conclusion between the internet gambling group Sportech, based out of the United Kingdom, and Trinity Mirror, a tabloid newspaper known for their tongue-in-cheek reports on the celebrity lifestyles. According to a recent disclosure by the former, the deal would link their name with the newspaper the Daily Mirror, extending the reach of their football pools to a whole new demographic. Two of the most major points of the pending deal are the use of traditional coupons to entice new customers to try out the internet casinos services, as well as a special Spot the Ball competition. Should the two firms be able to come to an agreement, it would serve to improve the pools’ coverage, which already works with online football sites, as well as betting shops owned by the online gambling company Ladbrokes. A network of home visitor collectors are also included in the Sportech clientele. “We have been in talks with Trinity Mirror for a few months and I’m pleased that the coupons will appear in the paper,” said the chief executive officer for Sportech, Ian Penrose. “It is considered by both parties that many Mirror readers are still interested in the Classic Football Pools and Spot the Ball, and we are pleased to be able to re-introduce these traditional games to the paper." The deal is expected to run through the completion of the World Cup in South Africa, one of the biggest event’s in the football world. |
