A positive report has been released to the internet gambling community, providing some reassurance to those who might doubt the ability or objectivity of eCOGRA in resolving disputes in favor of the player. The statistics have been released by one of the more well-known Fair Gaming Advocates at the eCOGRA, Tex Rees, who generously released her final numbers for the 2009 year, showing that in fact, nearly half of the dispute requests she received from players were decided in favor of the bettor.

Rees normally publishes quarterly reports on the progress of player disputes, giving updates on all the problems associated with the 141 online gambling websites that are accredited by eCOGRA. Based out of London, the independent auditing company is the most respected in determining the most trustworthy internet casinos available.

According to Rees’ most recent annual report, she was assigned 826 disputes through the player facility, a jump of 10 percent from the previous year. Eighty-three of the reports were not available for resolution, however, as they applied to online casinos not accredited by eCOGRA and therefore out of their jurisdiction. Another 115 of the complaints were unresolvable because of their anonymity, abusive nature and or lack of specifics. The remaining 628 issues received Rees’ research, expertise, and resolution.

Of that final grouping, 303 of the problems were resolved in favor of the player, creating a 48 percent success rate on behalf of bettors. "The average number of valid disputes handled per week was 12.07, slightly up on the 2008 number of 10.6," Rees said this week. “The hierarchy of disputes remains the same as it was in 2008, although the percentages differ slightly," Rees said. "Once again I found operators quick to respond and fully cooperative in addressing the mediated disputes.”
