Not to imply that either the online gambling industry or the world of poker have any difficulty making it into the news in any case, but a particularly happy record has been broken once again by one of the most well-established, and popular proponents of both internet casinos and the game of poker. Poker Stars.com, known as one of a very few leaders in online poker, has once again broken the records for most players online, playing simultaneously, entering their names into the Guiness Databases once again.

Many a poker network has attempted to usurp Poker Stars’ domination in this particular category, with a few actually succeeding – for a short time. Always, Poker Stars ends up winning the title back unto themselves, upping the ante and attracting poker players from all over the online gambling industry to come together in the promotion to keep the top spot. They first established the record in December of 2008, when 35,000 players signed on at the same time, filling up the virtual tables to their max. The move was not only good advertisement, but an excellent test for the software running the internet casino, supporting all of the action without flaw.

Six months later, Poker Stars did it again, doubling their own record with 65,000 players from as many as 155 different countries all around the globe. This time, 149,196 player paid a dollar buy-in to partake in the event, which guaranteed a $300,000 prize pool for the tournament. The top 30,000 players continued playing for the main prize of $50,000, with a player by the screen name of ‘oskar69’ taking the event.
