While it would never usurped from its place in power in the professional sports world as the number one sport bet on and watched, football isn’t the only past-time that has caught the attention of the online gambling industry in terms of advertising and sponsorship potential. Ice hockey has a similar, very male following, making it a demographically perfect opportunity to introduce internet casino products to new customers. Ultimate Bet is among the first online casinos to recognize the correlation, signing this week a sponsorship agreement with the Canadian National Hockey League. Ultimate Bet, known for their online poker platform, will be the official sponsor for the Calgary Flames. The Ultimate Bet logo will soon be installed on the dual rinkboards in the Alberta home arena. The new contract will allow not only the advertisement of the site at Flames’ games, but the online gambling website has already begun introducing Flames prizes, like tickets to their games, into their poker tournaments. Both US and Canadian players can play poker in order to win one of four pairs of tickets to attend the NHL game between the Flames and the Ottawa Senators in March. Eight daily online poker satellite tournaments will result in the top 100 players earning seats in the Sunday Main event at UB.com. The winners of the Main Event will receive not only tickets to the game, but also $1,000 in cash to pay for travel expenses. Once there, one of the four winners will have the opportunity to play ‘Truth’ or ‘Bluff’ against a pre-recorded Phil Hellmuth on the Jumbotron, vying to upgrade their seats to a luxury hospitality suite at the game. Ultimate Bet is an online poker website owned by Tokwiro Enterprises. They are member of the Cereus Network. |
