While the regions such as the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, and Macau are more than well known for their friendly climate towards online gambling companies, providing a safe haven for regulation and home base for the offshore operation of internet casinos, a new location is considering making the map in the industry. Estonia, a small nation in the Baltic is gearing up to become the next prime location for online gambling corporations, adding to their already flattering reputation.

Estonia, though now well-known outside of the internet casino community, already provides excellent software development services to the world, respected internationally for their high standards in the field. It’s being hailed as a perfect base for the establishment of a new regulatory field for online casinos, as a number of posts on community forums report that operators and software providers are working together to change the regulation mandates in their favor.

According to rumors, the shift into a regulatory framework will take place in two stages. The first will begin with a blanket liberalization of online gambling in all of Estonia, allowing domestic companies free reign to promote to residents. Then, as early as 2011, the expansion of licensing will grow to include offshore companies, opening up the business to foreign operators, so long as they are able to satisfy all of the requirements. The motivating factor for the shift is said to monetary: the tax revenues that will be generated by opening up the sector are much needed for the small Baltic nation.
