After a rough few weeks both at the online casino Full Tilt and at his inspired show, Million Dollar Challenge, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan may be back on the right track for some solid wins, his confidence only slightly marred by his November and December performances. The year-end disappointments contributed to his losses for all of 2009, which tallied to an alarming $4.5 million down, according to most sources. The last couple of weeks of December seemed to hail the start of a fresh new year, with Dwan able to win back $1.5 million by playing through 33,000 hands of poker at the internet casino Full Tilt Poker. Though impressive, the professional player still has a long way to go to make up for a very rough year. His start in 2010 has been a slow one, with not nearly as much excitement surrounding the player as normal at the high stakes tables. In fact, he began modestly, buying into a session of $50 Pot Limit Omaha this week, bringing in a meager $43,000 to his bankroll from a range of regular players. According to Market Pulse, the statistics tracker which monitors the big action at the online casino, another 149 hands were played at the $100 buy-in tables, profiting Dwan $80,813 and sending him offline to consider his next move. In a couple of hours, the virtual railbirds had surmised that he’d made a decision, signing back on to a six-max $300/$600 table of Pot Limit Omaha, facing off against the familiar competition of Ilari Sahamies, Richard Ashby, and Brian Townsend. Three pots surpassed totals of $200,000, with ‘Urin Danger’ Dang winning out on most hands. By the end of the night, Townsend, who is only suspended from pro Team activities, was down an embarrassing $725,000. As for Dwan, he managed to earn himself another $50K, before breaking off to battle a heads up against Sahamies. That turned out to be his best Challenge of the night, adding another half-million in his hand, and showing 2010 that Dwan’s not quite finished yet. |
