Apparently, the nation of Belize is having some difficulty with online gambling companies claiming to have operational and gambling licenses from the region. The recent news of a particular site – that of 1x2.com – having been raided by police in Israel has been updated with some fraudulent claims made by the company, such as their proclamation of being licensed to operate in Belize, a claim that now has been declared a total lie by the local government. According to an interesting report by Major Wager.com, an informational and news portal servicing the internet gambling community, the website 1x2.com and its parent company Net Games Inc had in fact operated out of Belize for some time in the year 2000, but had not ever achieved licensing rights from the government. Their site claimed, however, that they did, even after they moved operations to Israel. Owned and run by the Raviv brothers – Shai and Idan – Net Games has been declared as completely unknown to the officials in the area, who claim that there are only two online gambling companies who have rights to operate out of Belize, despite a much larger number of internet casinos who claim to be regulated there. A telephone conversation is being pinpointed as particularly interesting, as one of the officials for the Ministry of Economic Development, Lincoln Blake said to a Major Wager rep: "The Government of Belize recently discovered that several online gaming websites are claiming to have licenses in Belize. We want to advise the Internet community and the general public that there are only two with license to operate from Belize. These are Fulton Data Processing Limited and Sports Offshore Limited.” He asked for the online gambling community’s cooperation in identifying other firms making claims similar to those of Net Games Inc, and avoid any sites that claim to be licensed through Belize. |
