The International Poker Network ended a great year with a bang, as the conclusion of 2009 also brought about the triggering of their Bad Beat Jackpot. They had just finished celebrating their three millionth player and their billionth hand of online poker played at the internet casino when a group of players triggered the jackpot with a set of four kings and a royal flush, sending the loser home a winner! The Bad Beat poker tables stand out as a unique and absolutely engaging game in a very big world of online gambling. The most tragic of all is known to be when great hands are beat out just marginally by higher scoring competition, sending home what would have been a clear win with nothing. On Bad Beat tables, however, just that situation triggers a progressive jackpot, which enriches all of the players at the winning table- with the loser coming out on top! The International Poker Network, run by GTech G2, had the privilege of paying out nearly €355,000 to a Bad Beat table when a set of four kings was beat out by royal flush. The loser of the hand, but overall winner of the jackpot, 72isROCKS received the bulk of the jackpot prize, €177,500 while the winner of the hand, Nogis22 managed to swipe an extra €88,750 into his pocket. The three other players participating in the game were each given €29,583 just for playing. "I was pretty excited when I found myself holding four Kings," said the winner/loser. "My heart sank when I saw my opponent's Royal Flush – but that changed quickly when I remembered I was playing at a Bad Beat table!" In order to trigger the Bad Beat Jackpot at any of the IPN online casinos, a number of conditions must be met: The losing hand must be at least quad sixes; four or more players must be dealt into the hand; they must be sitting at a designated Bad Beat table (a portion of all the bets goes into the progressive jackpot) and both the hand winner and loser must be using both their pocket cards. |
