The long awaited for schedule is out for the 2008 World Series of Poker! Whether you like the live action and free booze of the casinos, or prefer the quiet concentration of internet gambling, poker fans all over the world will assuredly be tuning into the annual World Series of Poker hosted by Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. For the first time, the Series will start and conclude with $10,000 buy-in World Championship events, and feature eight different $10,000 competitions. In their 39th year, the event will shown exclusively on ESPN (make sure you pay your cable bills on time this year) and presented by Milwaukee’s Best Light beer. The schedule is chock-full of events- a grant total of 55 game series to watch, in addition to the eight included $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Tourneys. Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP seemed genuinely excited for this year; he detailed opportunities for both amateur and professional poker players, and boasted of the “widest variety of games and buy-ins ever offered in one poker tournament.” Although the traditional favorites are a guarantee, alluded to a few surprises, “…to keep it interesting for our players and fans.” It truly does seem the most exciting schedule yet, if it lives up the hype. The Tournament begins on May 30th, with the $10K buy-in World Championship of Pot limit Hold’em. It will run through July 16th with the ending event being designated as the Final Table of No Limt Texas Hold’em. Other events include: Omaha Hi-Low and Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud, Limit Hold’em, Head Up No Limit Hold’em, and a Mixed Event. And just in case you don’t get that bill in on time, and want to take a drive, the tournament will be held at the Rio Convention Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada (where else?) WSOP officials plan on a soft opening starting on the 28th of May for gamblers to register early and play for satellite and cash games. |
