Scott Glandon had a reliable job as the school treasurer for a Pickaway County school in the state of Ohio. He lost that job because he was using the money he was supposed to be delegating for the school for an online gambling habit. Mr. Glandon admitted to stealing $57,000 over a period of time to place bets on online horse races. The charges could send Mr. Glandon off to prison for up to five years. He was caught by state auditors in April of last year. The school insists that they did a background check of Mr. Glandon, as they do to all potential employees. “We do background checks for the safety of the children. But in this case he developed a problem after he was employed with us.” said a human resources representative in the Westfall school district. Once Mr. Glandon was discovered of misusing the treasury’s money for a gambling addiction he has not been able to quit, he paid back the entire amount. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of theft in November and will be sentenced tomorrow the 9th of January. These few things might make his sentence a bit lighter. He will most definitely need to see counseling for his addictive habit and probably be served with hundreds of hours upon hours of community service. Mr. Glandon is forty-two years old and could be sentenced to actual prison time but not for the full five years. At most he may receive two years with early parole in six months for good behavior. |
