Razz is similar to seven card stud. There is usually a fixed amount that can be bet per player per round, commonly referred to as a limit poker game.

Two cards are dealt face down and one is dealt face up after the players ante up. The card that is face up is known as the door card. The highest door card brings it in usually with a bet that is one third or half of the regular bet. In a case where two people have a door card of the same rank, the bring in is determined by suit. The first bet is mandatory for all players. The ranking of the suit starts with Spades as the highest, then Heart, Diamonds and Clubs. To start the game with the King of Spades is the worst luck you could have. Play continues clockwise from the bring in, just as in most other forms of poker.
After the first round of betting, another card is dealt face up. This time betting begins with the lowest hand showing. Play continues like seven card stud and the lowest hand showing starts until the fifth card is dealt. At that point all bets have doubled. When the seventh card is dealt it is dealt face down and whoever started the sixth round of betting starts the seventh.

Like all poker games, Razz ends in a showdown if more than one player has made it to the end without folding. After the game is won the deal rotates to the left, as with most forms of poker.
